Are you ready for a facelift or a liquid facelift? If you’re no longer satisfied with the face you see in the mirror, the answer could be yes. But which procedure is right for you? To make that decision, you’ll need to think about your desired outcome and how long the results will last.
What’s the Difference Between the Two Procedures?
A facelift is a surgical procedure that requires anesthesia. It can uplift and rejuvenate many areas of the face with just one surgery. Incisions are made along the hairline at the temple to the area behind the ear. Excess skin is removed, underlying muscle tissue is tightened, facial contours are re-sculpted and facial skin is redraped. Sagging jowls, facial skin and loose neck skin are removed.
A liquid facelift requires no surgery or downtime to achieve a younger looking appearance. The facial plastic surgeon uses dermal fillers and injectables to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and add volume to sunken areas, like the cheeks. But a liquid facelift will not address loose or sagging skin. The treatment takes under an hour, and the results are immediately evident.
How Long Will the Results Last?
The results of facelift surgery are long lasting. For most patients, the results will last for about 10 years. The longevity of your individual results will depend upon your rate of aging and your skin type.
A liquid facelift is a temporary procedure. Different types of dermal fillers and injectables are used, and each has its own life span. On average, plan to go back for touch ups about once a year.
What Is the Recovery Time?
A liquid facelift requires very little recovery. The procedure is quick, and you can return to your normal routine right after your treatment.
A facelift requires a much more substantial recovery time. It will take about two weeks before you can return to work. Stitches are removed after one week, and swelling and bruising will last about two weeks.
