Facts You Might Not Know About Botox®

Botox® is an injectable solution which is inserted directly into the targeted facial muscles with a very thin needle. Generically referred to as botulinum toxin, Botox® is most typically used for fighting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It temporarily freezes the facial muscles, causing the wrinkles to smooth over. The result is a firmer, younger looking appearance.

We really see no difference between any of the botulinum toxins we use: Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin®. They are all safe to use, and they deliver the same results.

Things You May Not Know About Botox®Botox in Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ

Many people prefer to treat the signs of aging without surgery, and Botox® is a popular treatment choice. It is safe, and it gives you immediate, long-lasting results. Here are some things you may not know about Botox®.

  1. Botox® should be administered by a skilled plastic surgeon. It is important to know where to inject the Botox® to relax the correct muscles to achieve a smooth, natural look.
  1. Botox® won’t give you a frozen face. When it’s done correctly, Botox® looks completely natural. So, if you’ve seen people with unnatural looking results, they have either gotten too much Botox® or it was done badly by someone other than a board-certified plastic surgeon.
  1. The results of Botox® are gradual. You will begin to notice results in a few days, but usually it takes about two weeks to see the full results of the procedure.
  1. The results of your Botox® treatment will last for about three months. After that, you will need additional treatments to maintain your results. You may not know that the more often you get Botox®, the less you will need to achieve the same results. That’s because your muscles will respond for longer periods of time as the product is used more frequently. So over time, you will need less Botox® to smooth out wrinkles.
  1. Botox® can be used to treat wrinkles you don’t have yet. Some patients decide to take a proactive approach by beginning Botox® treatments earlier in life. This is a preventative measure that can help correct expression related lines before they become more deeply etched into the skin as wrinkles.
  1. More men are opting to get Botox®. Just like women, they find it helps give them a boost of confidence by fighting the signs of aging.
