What is the Process for Hair Restoration? How Fast Will I See Results?

Plastic Surgery and Med Spa in Bucks County, PA and Hunterdon County, NJHair loss is one of those unfortunate experiences in life that feels inevitable. For too large a number of people, this experience comes early, for some as early as their twenties. Hair loss can be embarrassing or awkward, especially for those who are younger. A full head of hair leads to a more confident you, and while hair loss may feel permanent, it does not have to be. Through hair restoration, you can have the full hair you have been missing.

What is the process for hair restoration?

In order to be considered for hair restoration, you must have enough hair on the sides or back of your scalp to use as donor hair. If the hair on the sides or back is thick enough, it can be transplanted to the thinning areas.

The hair restoration procedure itself can seem scary. Either strip of your soft tissue with the donor hair attached is removed and then cut into smaller pieces to be put on the thinning area, or Dr. Buinewicz uses the Neograft system to harvest the hair from the donor area without cutting out a strip of skin or leaving a scar. You will be given anesthesia for the area being worked on, and if you are too nervous, you can also be given medication to keep you calm. The whole procedure can take anywhere from three to eight hours depending on the amount of hair needing to be replaced.

How quickly will I see results from the hair restoration procedure?

While the results may take up to 6 – 12 months to fully show, you will be enjoying those results of your hair restoration for years to come.

Hair loss is something that nobody should have to suffer through if they don’t have to, and you don’t have to.
